Where can you collect my vehicle from?

We can collect vehicles from across London and surrounding areas. For our full list of collection locations, please see here (link to location page once uploaded to website). We just need to be able to have clear access for our recovery vehicle. Whether your car is at your home address, work, somebody else’s house or at a storage compound, we can collect it. The only place we cannot collect from is roadside or at a service station, as we do not operate roadside recovery.

Is collection free?

Yes, all of our collections are free as standard. This means that the price you are quoted for your vehicle, if the price you will receive, guaranteed, with no hidden costs.

Can you collect any type of vehicle?

Yes, we are an Authorised Treatment Facility meaning we have the ability to collect vehicles of any size in any condition. From motorcycles to lorries, our collection service covers any vehicle.

Do I need to organise the collection of my vehicle?

No, we want the process to be as quick, easy and simple as possible for you so we handle the collection process for you. Once you accept your quote, we will be in touch with you to arrange collection at a date and time that is mutually convenient.

How soon can you collect my car?

We aim to arrange collection as soon as possible after you have decided you are happy with your quote. We try to contact you on the same or following day. Once we contact you, we will discuss our collection options and ensure it is at a mutually suitable date and time. Depending on our availability, our collection period can be anything from within a few hours up to a few days, but we will always try to collect your vehicle as soon as possible.

Who will pick up my vehicle?

A member of the Scrapping A Car team with years of knowledge and expertise will be picking up your vehicle. This means you can rest assured that you are in good hands and you don’t have to worry about third-party transporters.

How will I know it’s your driver that comes to collect?

As we operate all of our own recovery vehicles, you don’t need to worry about a third party turning up at collection. We will have pre-arranged your collection with you directly and our driver will have your collection details to hand. If for any reason you are in doubt, you can call us on 0203 870 2545 and we will be happy to help.

Do I need to provide any documentation when you collect my vehicle?

We ask for you to provide your photo ID and a utility bill with proof of address. This is part of the checks that we do in line with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 to combat rogue traders.

Do I need to be present when you collect my vehicle?

No, we do not require the registered keeper or the legal owner of the vehicle to be present at the time of collection. We do however require a person present with a signed note from the vehicle owner stating they have been instructed to act of their behalf. We also ask for this person to have a form of photo ID and a recent utility bill.

How long will the collection take?

Once you have accepted your quote, we aim to arrange collection as soon as possible. We always book our collections on a date that is suitable for you and sometimes this can even be the same day. However, the collection process can be dependent on individual factors such as the condition of your vehicle, whether it has keys, if the location is accessible. You can be assured that here at Scrapping A Car we are industry experts and we will make the collection process as streamlined as possible.

Can I change the date of my collection?

If you need to change the date we have arranged to collect your vehicle, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Can you collect my vehicle at a specific time?

We will always try our best to collect within a set time period. As we often have multiple collections within the same day, sometimes the collection time can change due to unforeseen circumstances. However, we will always keep you up to date and if possible, we will let you know when we are nearby.

What days do you collect?

We work seven days a week. We always aim to collect the vehicle at a time that is mutually convenient, if you have particular requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.

What are the requirements for where my car needs to be?

Your car isn’t required to be at your home address and it isn’t required to be on a public road. We do ask that the vehicle is on stable ground that our recovery vehicle can easily access. If your car is in a difficult location that we will struggle to access, please let us know about this beforehand. This way we can try our best to accommodate you and bring the correct equipment to allow us to retrieve the vehicle in a timely and efficient manner.

What if the driver doesn’t turn up when they said they would?

In rare cases, unforeseen circumstances can cause delays to collection timings. In the event of any significant delays, we will always try to contact you beforehand to let you know. If you haven’t heard from the driver and you are experiencing a delay, please contact us on 0203 870 2545 and we will try to solve the situation as soon as possible.

Does my car need to be cleaned before collection?

We don’t expect the car to be waxed and polished, but we would appreciate it if the car didn’t have personal items or rubbish left in it upon collection, this helps make the process as quick, easy and simple as possible for everybody involved.
