Charity of the month: Brixton Soup Kitchen
This month our chosen charity is Brixton Soup Kitchen. Each month we choose a charity from our charity partners to donate a portion of the proceeds from every car we scrap.
Brixton Soup Kitchen provides food and a safe place to the homeless. The kitchen now feeds as many as 80 people per day.
BSK also offers a free clothes bank with changing and hygiene facilities for those in need and a range of other services including counselling, mentoring, IT and CV building to name but a few.
Since Brixton Soup Kitchen was established in 2013 by founder Solomon Smith, including the time it has been a registered charity, the kitchen has solely relied on small public donations predominantly from the local community and has received no formal funding.
Solomon’s aim is to eradicate homelessness so there has to be no need for Brixton Soup Kitchen. In the meantime, they need support in order to allow them to continue offering their vital services.
This month we have pledged to provide food and essentials to Brixton Soup Kitchen in time for Christmas.
“Brixton Soup Kitchen is a charity local to us that supports the homeless. After the events of this year, it is so important that everybody gets the chance to have a good Christmas.
“There will be more people than ever before that need our support this Christmas. We have chosen BSK for December and pledged to deliver food and essential goods in time for the Christmas period,” says Craig Barnaby, Managing Director.
